April 2026, +1 to the count of London cowboys!

April 2026 marks the date when the city of London gained another cowboy in its count as I officially filed for the council tax. The London Cowboys, a cool but forgotten punk band from the 80s, is playing loudly in the background.

You know that famous Snoop’s line where he thanks himself? I, too, wanna thank myself for stepping out of my online comfort zone last year and trying the old school selling way. Markets and whatever comes with it- even them odd days when I make $4 (character building) have become part of my life and I genuinely look forward to the weekends. After surviving the winter (and that’s not an exaggeration), nothing will break me now - waking up at 4 means I get to see the city wake up, if I’m lucky I might catch a fox running across the street, and I mainly avoid the traffic which means I’m at the market in 15 minutes (I exchanged my volkswagon for the TFL).

I saw this meme about rock bands and immediately had to do my version

Some of this month’s markets fits. Haven’t documented much, but those below are some that I will want to repeat: RL blazer over double denim, a good pop of colour under the fringe jacket and a military jacket mixed with western and workwear. This combo of 40s jacket, 50s shirt and 70s suit pants was amazing but not for the full day of work.

As for the change in my daily life, I swapped small town surrounded by vast pastures and woods for zone 2, and when asked “how are you finding it?”, all I say is “next question, please”. It’s been just a month and in between running around looking for weird objects that are essential for living, but only obvious once they’re not around (kitchen scale because I need to measure my coffee to water ratio, smart bulb so I don’t have to get up from bed when I’m done reading or browsing eBay, command hooks to hang all my hats etc), dealing with the most annoying admin (don’t ever talk to me about energy providers), there wasn’t much time for unbiased reflection. I spent 5 years in Nottinghamshire - it’s a big change for me and I’m not here to rush anything.

I’m sure same goes for my dog and so each day we’re taking different streets just to explore the area, and here, a month is more than enough to understand which places to avoid (y’all keep saying “that’s just London”…) - dodgy streets with piles of trash everywhere… But we’re on a mission to keep the glass half full so we’re looking for more uplifting sites and something we’ve been enjoying was discovering all the cool classic cars parked nearby. I will post a carousel one day purely dedicated to my dog and the classic cars of North West London, here’s a little sample:

I’ve been enjoying making my new space feel more like home, so once I reorganised my books, records and clothes, I started to feel more at ease. I finished reading ‘The beautiful and the damned’ by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I love how he always brings me to the middle of the action he’s writing about, as I was in the same room with the characters, this time 1922 New York (however nothing beats ‘Tender is the night’…). I’m usually behind with modern country music (on my own command), but I have a few artists that I like to occasionally play and one of them is Paul Cauthen. Not gonna lie, his latest record was on repeat, its giving Waylon and those outlaw country vibes which I miss in modern sounds.

I ventured out to check local charity shops one day and guess what, I’ve found some real gem! I already imagined so many cool outfits with those boots but the shop staff wasn’t able to locate the second boot… It would be so much better to not find anything at all.

I’ve been loyal to Portobello Green Market since last year’s June but recently I’ve been trying a new market in the area, called Portobello Yard. It only takes place on Saturdays and not having to wake up at 4 am twa days in row makes such a difference! It’s a new space so not really popular yet but I like its relaxed vibe. Now that I’m in the city permanently, I’ll want to try other venues and events, so if you’re planning to see me, do check my ig stories, I always share what, where and when there.

April for me is a special month because it’s my birthday month. Since a few years, I like celebrating it by removing what I love and hate most - sugar. I have an insanely sweet tooth and I don’t go about my day without a sweet treat of some kind, to the point where I’m not even aware of it. So each year, April 1, I stop eating processed sugar and any store bought sweets (and crisps, ketchup, yoghurts - anything that contains sugar), which helps me put me back in a healthier way, but also makes me more disciplined in other ways. At the end of the month (my birthday is April 28th), it’s four weeks of making new habits my routine.

That’s the least aesthetical photo but if you ever see those dates - grab the box and thank me later!

Threw a little impromptu birthday dinner in my new crib - I’m 34 but please DO continue acting surprised and saying ‘I’d give you max 28!’. Please.

To whoever called me a $1 cowboy in the past - I bet you feel stupid now.

I ended the month travelling to my hometown in southwest Poland. I come from a huge family and anytime I go, there’s a gathering or celebration of some kind, which means I get to see so many of my uncles and cousins at once - much appreciated and needed when you live abroad. This time, it’s only been 4 days but filled to the brim with homecooked food, giggles of my nephew and so much sun, I came back tanned!

The cutest airport pickup I could ever ask for!

Spring in Poland, smell of rapeseeds in the air on a warm evening and the full moon over the field

Moving to the new place also meant living behind my HQ, so I had to improvise when shooting for online store. I found this majestic oak tree, I know it’s not the most western scenery out there, but the golden hour made it look a little less city-like. Some of the pieces I launched are still available online and you can browse them here.

And that’s a wrap. Thank you for reading, catch you out yonder! x
